Lynn was born in Alabama, grew up in Michigan, and raised her children in Southwest Virginia. Lynn built an award-winning career in the staffing industry. As an Adecco franchisee, she quickly became the largest female-owned and second-largest franchise group in the company, with over $26.4M in annual revenues, eight offices in seven markets and 1,700 temporary associate employees working on daily assignments. She has served on workforce development, chambers of commerce, and trade association groups.
Lynn comes from a multi-generational military family: Her grandfather served in WWI; her father served in the Army Air Corps during WWII (B-25 Bomber Pilot) and her son served in the Navy during the Gulf War. Her father continued his civil service career as a senior supervisory resident agent in the FBI.
Through the illness and death of her husband at a young age, raising her sons as a solo parent and seeing her brother become a quadriplegic at the age of 18, Lynn understands the special needs, respite and support families and individuals need to live a fulfilling life while coping with their unique daily challenges and unexpected traumatic events. These life experiences, combined with her patriotism and being a military mom, led Lynn to create Eagle Rock National Center for Veteran Families, hosting holistic retreats for military families at no charge to them. The families are taught new ways to heal and thrive – together. That, and God tapped her on the shoulder and said, “I want you do to this.”
Lynn’s favorite place is the rocky shoreline on Lake Superior, watching the big waves kick up. Her favorite car is a convertible, preferably red (and she once enjoyed four-wheel-drive drag racing). In her spare time, Lynn is a water media artist and loves to spend time with her family.
Becky is the heart behind Eagle Rock’s children’s and youth programming, often described as the camp’s unofficial “children’s director” or “youth ministry director.” A long-time homeschooling mom of four and a former family support group leader for David’s National Guard unit after 9/11, Becky has walked through every stage of deployment life—from single parenting during year-long separations to helping her kids adjust when Dad comes home and the family has to “find a new normal.”
Becky first came to Eagle Rock as a military spouse, not sure what to expect; she stayed because of the tools she learned—especially around communication and family connection—transformed her own home. She began volunteering with the kids’ program while David was deployed, and over the years, it became her passion. In her classes, she focuses on helping kids understand their emotions, open up to their parents, and rediscover how to have fun together as a family, often using simple tools like the family “talking stick” to teach listening and respect.
Outside of Eagle Rock, Becky is known as a “budget wedding planner” who helps young women in her church create beautiful weddings without the big price tag, thanks to a growing collection of décor she’s built up over many events. She and David are deeply involved in their church’s large Easter and Christmas productions, where they design and build elaborate props and sets—right down to faux brick walls made from Styrofoam. A musical at heart, Becky also loves singing bluegrass with David and cheering on their kids, who grew up as competition cloggers in a very musical family.
David served 38 years in the North Carolina National Guard, with four overseas deployments (including Kuwait) and an extended instate assignment at Fort Bragg. Over the course of his career he held several roles, including maintenance platoon sergeant and earlier work as a chaplain’s assistant, giving him a front row view of both the spiritual and practical needs of service members and their families.
Now retired, David spends his time volunteering at Eagle Rock, tackling home construction projects, and playing in a bluegrass band. A multi-instrumentalist who can pick up just about anything with strings—guitar, fiddle, bass, dobro, mandolin—he brings a quiet steadiness and a sense of fun to the families he serves. Having lived through multiple long deployments, he’s especially passionate about helping other military dads reconnect with their kids and learn to communicate more openly at home.
